What is Woodle?
Woodle is a word ladder puzzle. You start with a word and change one letter at a time — each step must be a real word — until you reach the target word. Try to match the shortest possible path.
What does premium unlock?
Woodle Premium removes all ads before gameplay, so you can play unlimited Standard, Hard, and Custom games without watching an ad to start each game. It also includes exclusive themes and solution reveal after giving up. Your existing Premium purchase provides this access; you do not need to buy it again.
Premium does not remove hint ads. Both free and Premium players watch a separate rewarded video to earn each hint. A gameplay ad unlocks one play, not a hint or Premium features.
Is premium a subscription?
No. Woodle Premium is a one-time purchase of $2.99 (USD; prices may vary by region). There is no subscription and no recurring billing.
How do I restore purchases?
Open Settings from Home and tap Restore Purchases. Restore is also available in “How to play” and on the Premium purchase screen. Your premium unlock is tied to your Apple Account, so it can be restored on any device signed in with the same Apple Account.
What can I play without watching ads?
Free players get the Standard daily puzzle plus one random Standard puzzle each day without ads. Using the random puzzle does not use up your daily puzzle. Custom puzzles shared with you and resuming unfinished games are also ad-free.
How do I unlock more games without Premium?
Free players can watch one rewarded video for each extra Standard game beyond their ad-free allowance. The same option opens Hard Daily, Hard Unlimited, and new Custom games. One earned ad reward unlocks one new game, not unlimited access for a period of time. Starting another ad-supported round, including a fresh Custom game using a recent target, needs another reward. Each difficulty still has only one daily attempt per calendar day.
You can instead choose Skip gameplay ads with Premium to open the one-time purchase screen. Watching an ad does not unlock Premium themes or solution reveal.
Do I need another ad to resume a game?
No. Returning to the same saved, unfinished game never requires another ad, including after closing and reopening the app. Viewing a completed daily result is also ad-free. Daily saves and results apply to their original calendar day.
If you earn a play but are interrupted before a game starts, that unused play is saved on this device for your next ad-supported game. Only one unused play can be saved at a time. Ad-free allowances, shared puzzles, resumes, and Premium gameplay do not spend it. Deleting the app's local data can remove it; it is not synchronized across devices.
What if an ad is unavailable or I close it early?
Ads need an internet connection and may not always be available. Your privacy settings can also affect availability. If an ad cannot load or you close it before its reward is earned, it does not unlock a play or grant a hint. You can try again later. Your ad-free allowances, shared puzzles, saved games, and any already-earned rewards remain available.
Can I play offline?
Your ad-free daily allowance, shared puzzles, saved games, Premium gameplay, and saved hints work offline. A saved, unused play can also start one ad-supported game offline. Earning another play or hint by watching an ad requires a connection and an available ad.
How do custom puzzles work?
In Custom mode you choose a target word from an approved built-in dictionary of 4- and 5-letter words, and the app finds a solvable starting word for you. You can share a custom puzzle with a friend; the share contains only the two puzzle words so they can play the exact same puzzle. There is no chat or open messaging. Choose your target first, then watch one rewarded video to start that Custom game, or use Premium to skip gameplay ads. Both 4- and 5-letter Custom games are available this way, including recent-word replays.
Do I need Premium to play a puzzle a friend shared with me?
No. Shared Custom puzzles are free and ad-free for everyone — just open a valid shared link and play. Reopening the same puzzle resumes its saved progress. Creating your own fresh Custom game requires one rewarded ad or Premium.
How do hints work?
Open Hints from Home or the puzzle screen. A separate rewarded video earns one hint for both free and Premium players, with no daily limit or balance cap. Earning a hint does not spend it. During a puzzle, confirm Use 1 hint to automatically play the next word on a shortest single-letter route from your last accepted word. Hints never spend a Shortcut. Scores and Backtrack rewards are unchanged; undoing a hinted move does not refund the hint.
Hints are saved on this device and work offline. Deleting the app's local data can remove them. Ads need a connection and may not always be available. Closing before the ad's reward is earned does not grant a hint. Settings includes the Privacy Policy and ad privacy choices where required.
How do I report an issue?
Email woodle.support@gmail.com with a short description of the problem, your device model, and your iOS version. If it relates to a specific word or puzzle, please include it so we can look into it.
